Protests against the Pakistan Army and ISI have swept over Pakistan-occupied Kashmir’s (PoK) Gilgit Baltistan, with large-scale rallies against Pakistani security services’ unlawful land acquisition.
The Pakistan Army has been stealing land from people for years, but this is the first time the residents have revolted. Locals in Gilgit’s Minawar village faced Gilgit Scouts and Pakistan Army forces who came to destroy local people’ dwellings.
They even sang anti-Pakistan Army chants and accused the army of invading their land. One of the demonstrators alleged that Pakistan Army “is forcefully taking our residences and agricultural land”.
The protestor continued “If something unpleasant happens, the Pakistan Army would be held accountable. The Chief Secretary must come to fix this issue; else, we will take it to the Prime Minister of Pakistan.”
Locals have accused the Pakistan Army of systematically repressing the inhabitants of Gilgit Baltistan in order to benefit from their unlawful occupancy of their country.
