On Monday, Google users worldwide reported issues accessing services like Gmail, search, and YouTube. This outage follows a global Windows issue on August 12 (IST). Downdetector, which tracks online outages, quickly highlighted the problem. Reports started increasing around 9 am ET, just as many Americans were beginning their workday.
User @CraigMason tweeted, “Debugging why the Internet isn’t working at the office… oh, turns out it’s just @Google that’s down.”
According to Downdetector, the outage affected major cities like Los Angeles and New York City the most, with Houston, San Francisco, Dallas, Boston, and Chicago also impacted. Users from the US, UK, Europe, Asia, and South America faced difficulties accessing various services, leading to a surge in social media reactions. One tweet read, “Trying to Google if Google is down… I think I answered my own question.”
Among the complaints, some users reported issues with the Chrome PC app and Gmail processes. Others continued facing problems, such as DNS issues and intermittent Google search outages.
