Tejaswini Reddy Kontham, a 27-year-old woman from Hyderabad who was living in Wembley, London, was tragically stabbed and killed in her flat on Tuesday. The suspect, Keven Antonio Lourenco De Morais, a 23-year-old Brazilian national and Tejaswini’s neighbor, has been arrested in connection with the crime.
Tejaswini’s flatmate, Akila, was also attacked by the assailant but survived and is currently hospitalized with knife wounds. Akhila’s family hails from Alair in the Yadadr Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana.
The motive behind the attack has not yet been determined by the investigating police officers. Emergency services were alerted to the incident around 10 am BST on Tuesday after a call was made to the London ambulance service, reporting the two women found injured in their flat.
According to Ramesh Katta, a London resident who is in contact with Tejaswini’s family, she was a computer science student at Greenwich University. Tejaswini and Akila had both completed their degrees and moved to a shared flat in Wembley. The Brazilian man had moved into the apartment with his girlfriend a week prior to the incident. Tejaswini’s family is understandably devastated by the tragedy, with her mother expressing shock over the sudden loss, mentioning that she had spoken to Tejaswini on Tuesday morning before learning of the incident
