Israel Massacre: IDF Acknowledges Failures in Preventing Hamas Attack

According to a report from The Times of Israel, the Israel Defence Forces have publicly acknowledged their shortcomings that facilitated Hamas’ infiltration and subsequent devastating attacks, marking the first admission since the conflict between Israel and Hamas began.

Since the assault initiated by Hamas on October 7, the death toll in Israel has risen to 1,300, with approximately 3,300 individuals sustaining injuries.

“We did not handle it,” stated IDF chief Herzi Halevi from southern Israel on Thursday, emphasizing the responsibility of the IDF for the security of the nation and its citizens. Halevi pledged that the IDF would thoroughly investigate the situation, asserting, “We will learn, we will investigate, but now is the time for war.” He underscored the IDF’s mission to combat Hamas terrorists and dismantle their network.

Addressing the devastating attack, Halevi condemned the actions of Hamas, referring to them as “murderous” and “brutal.” He vowed to take action against the perpetrators, particularly targeting Yahya Sinwar, the Gaza Strip’s ruler, and the entire system under his authority.

“We will attack them, we will dismantle them, dismantle their system,” he declared.

Halevi also emphasized the IDF’s commitment to rescuing the estimated 200 hostages held by the terrorist group in the Gaza Strip, stating, “We will do everything to return the hostages back home.”

The IDF highlighted its ongoing efforts against Hamas, specifically mentioning the deployment of the Flotilla 13 elite unit to regain control of the Sufa military post on October 7. The unit successfully rescued approximately 250 hostages and neutralized over 60 Hamas terrorists, including Muhammad Abu A’ali, the Deputy Commander of the Hamas Southern Naval Division.

Despite these efforts, the report indicated that the fate of roughly 150 individuals abducted and taken to the Gaza Strip during the Hamas attack remains uncertain.
