On Sunday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) established a three-member committee to monitor corruption and governance issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province where PTI formed the government following the February 2024 general elections, according to Geo News.
PTI legislator and KP Information Advisor Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif informed Geo News that PTI founder Imran Khan has directed the committee’s formation. The committee is tasked with investigating allegations against ministers and administrative secretaries. Saif highlighted that provincial minister Shakeel Khan had recently raised concerns about theft in several KP departments with former Prime Minister Khan, prompting the decision to form the committee.
The committee comprises former KP Governor Shah Farman, former Prime Ministerial Advisor on Accountability Musaddiq Abbasi, and former Supreme Court Bar Association President Qazi Anwar. Saif noted that these members will oversee the provincial government’s performance, and the report will be submitted to Khan, who is currently incarcerated.

In a separate statement, Saif criticized federal ministers for their remarks about the KP administration, claiming it was an attempt to obscure issues at the federal level. He defended PTI’s 11-year governance record in the province, arguing that it had led to the exclusion of other political parties.
Saif also challenged federal ministers to address concerns regarding high-cost contracts with Independent Power Producers (IPPs). He accused the federal government of exploiting people through expensive IPP agreements, leading to issues such as load shedding and inflated electricity bills that have significantly impacted citizens’ lives.
