In A Major Security Breach, Hospital Staff Tried To View Kate Middleton’s Private Medical Records: Reports

The prestigious hospital where the Princess of Wales received treatment has initiated an inquiry following claims that staff attempted to access her confidential medical records. Hospital administrators are investigating allegations of a breach of Kate’s privacy during her stay at The London Clinic in January.

It’s been reported that at least one staff member was caught trying to access the medical notes of the 42-year-old. These allegations have caused concern within the hospital located in Marylebone, Central London, known for discreetly treating members of the royal family, former presidents, prime ministers, and celebrities.

An insider spilled the beans: “This is a major security breach and incredibly damaging for the hospital, given its unblemished reputation for treating members of the Royal Family. Senior hospital bosses contacted Kensington Palace immediately after the incident was brought to their attention and assured the palace there would be a full investigation. The whole medical staff have been left utterly shocked and distraught over the allegations and were very hurt that a trusted colleague could have possibly been responsible for such a breach of trust and ethics.”

The investigation follows the circulation of videos and images this week showing Kate and Prince William at a farm shop in Windsor. This has coincided with internet trolls spreading conspiracy theories about her absence since undergoing abdominal surgery.

Unauthorized access to a patient’s medical records without the organization’s data controller’s consent is a criminal offense in both NHS and private healthcare settings. The Metropolitan Police did not confirm whether they had been informed of these allegations.

Despite Kensington Palace announcing that Kate would not return until at least after Easter, social media has been inundated with cruel speculations about her disappearance. In an attempt to address the speculation, aides released a Mother’s Day photo of Kate with William and their children, George, Charlotte, and Louis.

An Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) spokesperson stated, “We can confirm that we have received a breach report and are assessing the information provided.” The London clinic shared, “We firmly believe that all our patients, no matter their status, deserve total privacy and confidentiality regarding their medical information.”

Kate is said to be aware of the alleged incident. Since her discharge from the hospital on January 29 after a 13-night stay, she has been recovering at home in Windsor. She has opted not to disclose the reason for her admission, though sources suggest she may consider doing so in the future.

The private 56-room hospital, which opened in 1932, has provided care for various royals, including the late Queen, Prince Philip, Princess Margaret, and the late US President John F. Kennedy.
