India Condemns Pakistan, Asks To Act Against Masood Azhar- Jaish-e-Mohammed Terrorist

Indian authorities have strongly condemned Pakistan for not acting against Masood Azhar, the chief of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), after reports emerged that he recently delivered a public speech in Bahawalpur. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) called for immediate action, citing Azhar’s role in masterminding several terrorist attacks against India.

At a press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized the need for Pakistan to take decisive action against Azhar. “We want him to be brought to justice. If those reports of his speech are true, it exposes the duplicity of Pakistan over its stand on terrorism,” Jaiswal said. He underlined that Azhar was a key figure in all cross-border terrorism, like the 2001 Parliament attack and the 2019 Pulwama attack which killed 40 Indian jawans.

Recent reports suggest that Azhar has made statements, at a speech held in Bahawalpur, targeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with derogatory remarks, as well as urging an increase in militancy within Jammu and Kashmir, thus stirring concerns about whether he has ended his role to incite violence and contribute to the region’s destabilization.

India has been vocally demanding that Pakistan take serious steps against Azhar, as the latter was declared a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in September 2019. His outfit JeM has been involved with some of the most glaring terrorist attacks that have exacerbated Indo-Pak relations.

India reaffirmed its resolve to make all efforts to bring about justice for terrorism victims while calling upon Pakistan to complete its international obligations by taking measures against Azhar and others involved in terrorism.
