Indian Embassy and Consulate General in Nepal Hosts LiFE Mission Event to Foster Bilateral Cooperation and Friendship

The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and the Indian Consulate General in Birgunj jointly organized a series of events as part of the LiFE mission. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the global awareness program aims to promote environmentally friendly behaviors and create a self-sustainable ecosystem.

The events commenced with the inauguration of a seminar on “Engineering Innovation for Sustainable Ecosystems” at Kathmandu University, inaugurated by Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava. The seminar emphasized Mission #LiFE #LifeStyleforEnvironment, focusing on combating climate change and building sustainable ecosystems.

Throughout the week-long LiFE mission event held in Birgunj, various sessions were conducted, covering a range of topics. The Consulate General of India hosted engaging panel discussions and presentations by experts. Topics included Nepal’s journey towards carbon neutrality, women’s engagement in sustainable solutions, opportunities in green hydrogen, engineering waste management for sustainable development, and adopting an environmentally friendly lifestyle.

Consul General Nitesh Kumar highlighted that Mission LiFE is an India-led global mass movement to encourage individual and community action to protect and preserve the environment.

As part of the mission, the consulate organized sessions on “Healthy LifeStyle,” “E-Waste Reduction,” “Reducing Single-Use Plastic,” “Sustainable Food System,” “Waste Reduction,” “Energy Conservation,” and “Water Conservation.” Experts and activists shared valuable insights and suggestions for adopting sustainable practices in daily life.

Around 100 members of civil society from Birgunj, along with consulate officials and staff, actively participated in these sessions. The special week-long LiFE mission concluded successfully, raising awareness about the importance of environmental preservation and inspiring positive changes for a greener and healthier future.
