Interim Cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, Sworn In

The interim cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan, consisting of twelve members, was sworn in on Saturday. This followed the resignation of nineteen members from the previous caretaker cabinet, who had submitted their resignations to the chief minister on August 10.

The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Governor’s house and was presided over by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Governor Ghulam Ali. Key figures present included the caretaker chief minister Mohammad Azam Khan. Among those who took the oath were Syed Masud Shah, Barrister Feroze Jamal Shah Kakakhel, retired Justice Irshad Qaiser, Ahmad Rasool Bangash, Asif Rafiq, Dr Najeebullah, Dr Mohammad Qasim Jan, retired Justice Arshad Hussain Shah, and Syed Aamir Abdullah.

In addition, Dr Riaz Anwar and Dr Sarfaraz Ali Shah would serve as advisers to the chief minister, while Zafarullah Khan would act as a special assistant to the chief minister. Meanwhile, Mir Ali Mardan Domki was sworn in as the interim chief minister of Balochistan on Friday. His nomination for this position had been approved by the parliamentary committee. The appointment was endorsed by Governor Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar, following the recommendation of the Parliamentary Committee and in line with a statement issued by the governor’s office.

The nomination of Domki as the caretaker chief minister came after a consensus was reached between outgoing Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo and Leader of the Opposition Malik Sikandar Kakar. This decision was made following a meeting with caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar. On August 12, Balochistan Governor Malik Abdul Wali Kakar dissolved the provincial assembly based on the advice of Chief Minister Bizenjo. Bizenjo had been fulfilling his duties until the appointment of the new chief minister.
