Israel’s Ministry of Transportation forecasts a significant increase in international travelers passing through Ben Gurion Airport in April, with expectations exceeding 1.2 million passengers.
Despite the ongoing conflict in Gaza, the surge in traffic is attributed to the upcoming Passover holiday and the anticipated resumption of service by several international airlines to Israel.
During the holiday season, a multitude of visitors from across the globe are expected to flock to Israel, while many Israelis plan to travel abroad.
An estimated 60,000 passengers are anticipated daily on international flights during the Passover period in Israel.
April 21 is projected to be the peak day in Israel, coinciding with the eve of the holiday. However, due to security concerns, passenger volume during this Passover season is anticipated to be around 40 per cent lower compared to the same period last year, as per the ministry’s statement.
For Pesach 2024, Greece and Cyprus emerge as the top destinations for Israelis, with approximately 60 flights per day between the countries and a total of around 1,840 flights expected throughout April.
Known for their proximity and affordability, Greece and Cyprus remain highly favored among Israeli travelers. Other popular destinations include the United Arab Emirates, the USA, and Italy.
