Israel Simplifies Process For Obtaining Medical Rehabilitation Devices

Israel Simplifies Process For Obtaining Medical Rehabilitation Devices

Israel’s Ministry of Health announced an upcoming reform regarding medical rehabilitation and mobility devices, scheduled to take effect on Monday, April 1. Under this reform, responsibility for providing such devices will transition from the ministry to the health funds.

The ministry stated that transferring this service to the four Israeli health services companies will ensure seamless continuity of care within ongoing medical treatment. Individuals seeking these devices will be able to receive them directly from the health funds without involving the Ministry of Health in decision-making or device delivery.

Yaron Sakhar, Director of the Rehabilitation Division at the Ministry of Health, emphasized the significance of this reform.

It will align the provision of rehabilitation and mobility devices with other treatments and services offered in the community, while also aiming to streamline processes, facilitate insured individuals in exercising their rights, enhance services provided by health insurance funds, and reinforce the Ministry of Health’s role as a regulator and policy advocate in the field, responsible for supervision and oversight of the service.
