Joe Biden Makes First Public Appearance With Kamala Harris Since Dropping Out, Dubs Trump As ‘Donald Dump’

Joe Biden Makes First Public Appearance With Kamala Harris Since Dropping Out, Dubs Trump As ‘Donald Dump’

President Biden criticized former President Trump by referring to him as “Donald Dump” during their first joint appearance with Vice President Harris since she was named as the top of the Democratic ticket.

The event, held at a community college in Largo, Maryland, saw Biden and Harris take the stage together to Bruce Springsteen’s “We Take Care of Our Own,” greeting a crowd that held signs supporting lower prescription drug costs.

Harris spoke first, highlighting the administration’s achievements in health care and expressing admiration for Biden, whom she described as an “extraordinary human being.”

Biden, in turn, praised Harris and fully endorsed her, declaring, “She’s going to make one hell of a president.” He also took the opportunity to make fun of Trump, his former presidential opponent, by testing out a new nickname.

“Donald Dump or Donald, whatever…”

“The guy we’re running against, what’s his name? Donald Dump or Donald, whatever, they want to get rid of this, what we passed,” Biden said of health care cost initiatives his administration touted.

President Biden revisited a familiar campaign tactic by criticizing the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, which former President Trump has sought to distance himself from, and cautioned that Republicans aim to benefit big pharmaceutical companies.

“Our Project 2025 is simple”

Biden declared, “Our Project 2025 is simple: Beat the hell out of them. And I mean it.” Biden and Vice President Harris were in Maryland to highlight the expected $6 billion savings from the first round of Medicare drug price negotiations—a significant victory for Democrats in their efforts to reduce health care costs.

These negotiations are a result of the Inflation Reduction Act, which Biden signed into law in 2022.

Biden is set to speak at the Democratic National Convention on Monday, with Harris scheduled to formally accept the presidential nomination in Chicago on Thursday, just weeks after Biden exited the race and endorsed her.
