Kensington Palace has released the first official photo of the Princess of Wales Kate Middleton since her abdominal surgery in January. The picture, taken by Prince William earlier this week, features the princess alongside her three children. Accompanying the photo is a Mother’s Day message expressing gratitude for the public’s “continued support.” According to reports, Middleton is not expected to resume public duties before Easter.
Kate shared a message on social media, thanking everyone for their kind wishes and ongoing support over the past two months, while also extending Mother’s Day greetings. In the photo, the princess is seated, surrounded by Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, and Prince George, who has his arms wrapped around her. The 42-year-old princess spent 13 nights at the London Clinic near Regent’s Park in central London following her surgery.
Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months.
Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day. C

While the Palace has provided minimal details about her condition, clarifying that it is not cancer-related, speculation on social media has been substantial. The Palace stated that updates on her recovery would only be shared when there is significant new information to disclose.
After receiving treatment for an enlarged prostate, King Charles was discharged from the London Clinic private hospital in January. The King left the hospital after a three-night stay following the procedure. Buckingham Palace at the time announced that the King would defer his public engagements “to allow for a period of private recuperation.”
