The Israel Police has reported significant achievements in the “Green Safe Route” operation, a national campaign aimed at combating violent and organized crime in Israel’s Arab communities.
The operation has been ongoing for the past six months, even amid the conflict with Hamas terrorists in Gaza.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israel Police has targeted 429 individuals identified as the “main perpetrators” of crime in Arab society. As a result, 129 indictments have been filed, with 106 of the accused being detained pending the conclusion of legal proceedings.
Moreover, the operation has led to 2,855 arrests and 2,300 searches of areas suspected of involvement in criminal activities.
In collaboration with the Tax Authority, around 311 vehicles allegedly linked to criminal activities have been seized, including luxury vehicles, which may ultimately be confiscated by the government.
During this period, amid the conflict known as the “Iron Swords” war in Gaza, authorities confiscated approximately 3,037 different types of weapons, including firearms, ammunition, explosives, and more.
Police Commander Shmuel Sharvit emphasized the significance of these efforts, stating, “The data we are presenting today shows that alongside the many and complex tasks that fall on the shoulders of Israel Police officers and MGB fighters during the ‘Iron Swords’ war, we continue the fight against the phenomenon of violence and crime in Arabic society.”
Sharvit further highlighted that eradicating crime in Arab society is deemed a national priority, with all police units mobilized to achieve this objective.
