Netanyahu Envisions Post-War Gaza As Demilitarized And De-Radicalized With Palestinian Civilian Leadership

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has laid out a vision for Gaza’s future, following what he terms as Israel’s “total victory” in the ongoing conflict. Netanyahu’s ambitious plan includes the complete dismantling of Hamas’ military capabilities, ending its rule over Gaza, and securing the return of all hostages.

Looking beyond the immediate conflict, Netanyahu envisions a transformed Gaza characterized by both demilitarization and de-radicalization. He emphasized that, while Israel does not aim to settle Gaza, maintaining substantial security control in the region will be necessary to prevent any resurgence of terrorism and to ensure that Gaza remains a non-threatening entity to Israel.

Netanyahu advocates for a civilian administration in Gaza led by Palestinians who are committed to peaceful coexistence with Israel. He stresses the need for a new generation of Palestinians to be educated away from hatred and violence.

Drawing historical parallels, Netanyahu referenced the post-World War II demilitarization and de-radicalization efforts in Germany and Japan as models that could be applied to Gaza. He believes that such measures could pave the way for a future marked by security, prosperity, and peace. “That’s my vision for Gaza,” Netanyahu concluded.
