On a Wednesday morning, marking one month since the onset of the conflict in Gaza, Israel’s Minister of Education, Yoav Kish, officiated the grand opening of the inaugural school within the Tamar Regional Council, nestled by the tranquil Dead Sea. This exceptional educational facility has been established to cater to students spanning first through twelfth grades, who were displaced from their homes in the Eshkol Regional Council, adjacent to the Gaza Strip. Among the students are those from Kibbutz Be’eri, a community that tragically witnessed a devastating incident on October 7.
This innovative school complex is designed to accommodate 400 students and boasts a total of 15 brand-new classrooms. Six of these classrooms are tailored for students in grades 1-6, while the remaining nine are dedicated to students in grades 7-12. The school is strategically located within a secure compound, adjacent to hotels and guest facilities along the serene Dead Sea shores. These facilities have been temporarily housing Eshkol Regional Council residents, including the resilient individuals from Kibbutz Be’eri, providing a safe haven during these challenging times.
