The death toll from the partial collapse of a residential building in Nizhny Tagil, Russia, has surged to 10, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The Ministry reported on Friday that rescuers have recovered 10 bodies from the rubble and have successfully rescued 15 individuals.
The incident, which took place on Thursday, involved the partial collapse of two entrances of a five-storey gas-powered building in Nizhny Tagil, located in Russia’s Sverdlovsk Oblast. The collapse was attributed to an explosion of a gas-air mixture, as per the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Currently, five individuals are in critical condition and are being treated in a local hospital. In response to the tragedy, local authorities have declared August 3 as a day of mourning for the victims.
Search and rescue operations are still ongoing, with emergency services working to locate any remaining individuals trapped under the debris. The Ministry of Emergency Situations has confirmed that efforts to assist and support those affected by the collapse are a top priority.
