In a shocking incident, ten members of a family were killed in the Bhati Gate area of Lahore in Pakistan, said the officials. On Wednesday morning, a massive fire erupted at the house of the family.
Bhati Gate Station House Officer (SHO) Mohammad Sajjad confirmed the death toll. Lahore DIG Operations Ali Nasir Rizvi said the deceased belonged to the same family.
As per a report by a local newspaper of Pakistan, Rescue 1122, the agency received a call at 2:32 AM informing them of the incident. The rescue service responded by sending 33 rescuers and 11 vehicles to the scene of the event. The statement said that the house’s second story, which was situated in a “very congested area,” was where the fire first started.
The list released by Rescue 1122 showed that five of the deceased were teenagers while two of them were a four-year-old and a seven-month-old.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed “deep sorrow and grief” over the incident and “prayed for the departed souls”, reported Radio Pakistan.
Interim Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
