In a recent development in Pakistan, 14 people belonging to the Baloch Yakjehti Committee suffered injury, who were going to attend a rally in Gwadar on Saturday.
As per Pakistani-based media Dawn, They came under attack at Mustung. A blame game took place, when the injured alleged, that the security forces opened fire on them.
Issuing a press note, Kalat Deputy Commissioner Shayak Baloch said that a convoy of BYC was attacked at Levies checkpoint. Near Mustung.
As per Baloch Yakjehti Committee’s leader Bebarg Baloch, it was a law enforcement officer who opened fire on the convoy. The fire was opened when they were en-route to Quetta-Karachi highway.
Taking to X, Baloch Yakjehti Committee accused the state army and police of deliberately attacking convoys, which were going to Baloch Raji Machi. It fired on peaceful people directly.
Moreover, the leader also alleged, that they weren’t allowed to go Mastung and they alleged, that the security forces utilized baton-charge and shelled teargas.
However, Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind has denied the firing claims.
He said ‘No such orders have been given by Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti or the provincial government. Our doors are still open for negotiations, as the Chief Minister said in the policy statement in the Assembly, peaceful protest is the right of the people, the right of the administration to choose the place under the law. BYC only wants to recognize its right and is not ready to recognize the right of the administration.’
Meanwhile, the government has already put section 144 in place in Quetta on Saturday. Hence, imposing a ban on various types of gatherings, processions and rallies. Thus, closing all the roads, which lead to ‘red zone.’ Reports Dawn.
