Ex-director general of ISI Faiz Hameed has recently been detained into military custody, following a probe into complaints related to the Top City housing scheme. Reports Dawn News & Army News Wing.
The Pakistan Army conducted an inquiry, as per the direction of supreme court. They found sufficient evidence to pursue disciplinary action against Hameed under the Pakistan Army Act.
As per ISPR’s statement, a detailed probe was undertaken by the Pakistan army to verify the validity of the complaints against Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd) in the Top City case.

Moreover, the ISPR also said that ‘Multiple instances of violation of the Pakistan Army Act post-retirement have also been established. The process of Field General Court Martial has been initiated and Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd) has been taken into military custody.’
Earlier in April, the military established an inquiry committee to investigate the allegations of authority misuse against former spymaster. This committee, formed as part of a self-accountability measure, was chaired by a serving major general and operates under the directives of the Supreme Court and the Ministry of Defence.

This committee was constituted, following the directives provided by Pakistan’s supreme court and ministry of defence.
Meanwhile, the Top City was a private housing scheme where the management accused Hameed of orchestrating a raid on the owner’s offices and residence. In November 2023, the scheme’s owner, Moeez Khan, was advised to pursue resolution through the Defence Ministry and other relevant authorities.
