Mauritius is gearing up to welcome Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Guest of Honour at its 57 th National Day celebrations on March 12. The announcement was made by Mauritian Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam.
Addressing the Parliament, PM Ramgoolam spoke about the ties between the two nations.
“It is a singular privilege for our country to host such a distinguished personality who is doing us this honour, despite his very tight schedule and his recent visits to Paris and the United States,” Ramgoolam said.
He further noted that Modi’s acceptance of the invitation reflects the deep-rooted bond between India and Mauritius.
“The visit of Prime Minister Modi is a testament to the close relations between our two nations,” he added.
India-Mauritius Relations
The relationship between India and Mauritius is built on shared history, cultural heritage, and strategic cooperation. Over the years, both nations have strengthened their partnership in trade, infrastructure, defense, and culture.
