Protests in PoK’s Gilgit-Baltistan demanding power supply

People in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, are forced to endure harsh living conditions, such as a lack of electricity in the midst of a terrible economic crisis that has engulfed Pakistan. People in various areas of Gilgit City have reportedly been living in darkness for the past week due to a lack of energy, according to Pakistan’s local media. In total wrath, people have protested the government in the streets.

Traffic was stopped as a result, and commuters are having a lot of trouble. According to local media, protesters have issued a stern warning that they will block the roadways during the following demonstrations if the uninterrupted electrical supply is not restored. They are demonstrating against the jobless rate and rapidly growing inflation.

Pakistan is now experiencing an economic crisis. Residents who have been affected by floods and the nation’s food crises have long been silent observers of the shortcomings of leadership at all levels.
People have been demonstrating for a number of months now against the army’s tyranny, which rules the area as it is its colony.

The army is in charge of massive land theft and the annexation of nearby mines. Businesses from China and Pakistan have been robbing the area of its resources under the guise of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. According to The Times of Israel, there has been a backlash against the local authority and the federal government in the surrounding Gilgit Baltistan due to the army’s open land grabbing.

A little hamlet called Manawar had a ferocious public outcry in December over the imprisonment of children who had been staging anti-army demonstrations. The demonstrators have been quickly suppressed by the army on the grounds that they are terrorists.

In order to release funding from the federal government, Gilgit-Baltistan is currently experiencing a severe financial crisis. According to Dawn, Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Syed Mehdi Shah emphasised the area’s financial predicament and requested financial assistance from the federal government.

Dawn was informed by sources that the federal government had not yet issued the GB’s yearly financial development grant, despite the fact that the region depends on it.
