Protests in PoK’s Gilgit-Baltistan demanding power supply

A little hamlet called Manawar had a ferocious public outcry in December over the imprisonment of children who had been staging anti-army demonstrations. The demonstrators have been quickly suppressed by the army on the grounds that they are terrorists.

In order to release funding from the federal government, Gilgit-Baltistan is currently experiencing a severe financial crisis. According to Dawn, Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Syed Mehdi Shah emphasised the area’s financial predicament and requested financial assistance from the federal government.
