Raisina Dialogue 2024: Key Insights from the Global Conference on Geopolitics and Economics

What is Raisina Dialogue?

The goal of the yearly Raisina Dialogue is to discuss the most difficult problems facing the globe in the fields of geopolitics and geoeconomics. People from the political, business, media, and civil society sectors attend the conference, which is held in New Delhi.

“The Dialogue is structured as a multi-stakeholder, cross-sectoral discussion, involving heads of state, cabinet ministers and local government officials, who are joined by thought leaders from the private sector, media and academia,” according to the website of Raisina Dialogue.

The conference is being hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs in collaboration with the think tank Observer Research Foundation, which is based in Delhi.

What is the theme of this year’s edition?

According to a press release from the Ministry of External Affairs, the theme for the 2024 edition is “Chaturanga: Conflict, Contest, Cooperate, Create.” Participants will interact with one another around six “thematic pillars” over the course of the three-day conference. These include: “(i) Tech Frontiers: Regulations & Realities; (ii) Peace with the Planet: Invest & Innovate; (iii) War & Peace: Armouries & Asymmetries; (iv) Decolonising Multilateralism: Institutions & Inclusion; (v) The Post 2030 Agenda: People & Progress; and (vi) Defending Democracy: Society & Sovereignty,” the press release added.

Who will attend the 2024 edition of the Raisina Dialogue?

There will be over 2,500 attendees in person from about 115 different countries at the conference. Millions of people are anticipated to watch the dialogue on various digital platforms worldwide. Ministers, former presidents and prime ministers, military chiefs, tech executives, academics, journalists, experts in strategic affairs, and representatives from top think tanks are among the attendees.

Dr. Jaishankar emphasized how crucial it is to respect international law and avoid manipulating it for one’s own benefit. In order to establish India as a bridging power with a significant role on the international scene, he reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to advancing values, interests, and sentiments for the benefit of all. Dr. Jaishankar also emphasized India’s initiatives to promote unity and collaboration, especially during its G20 Presidency. He highlighted the idea of Vishwamitra, or the universal friend, as a representation of India’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and harmony.

Dr. Jaishankar held fruitful conversations at the function with a number of foreign dignitaries, including January Makamba of Tanzania, Ayorkor Botchwey of Ghana, and Juraj Blanár of the Slovak Republic. Renowned international personalities such as former Bolivian President Jorge Quiroga, Dutch Minister for Foreign Affairs Hanke Bruins Slot, and Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates, Anwar Bin Mohammed Gargash, also took part in the Raisina Dialogue.
