U.S. Representative Ro Khanna of California has announced his alignment with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), joining forces with tech billionaire Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to tackle wasteful government spending. Musk, a strong advocate of the initiative, expressed his support for Khanna’s involvement with a brief yet affirming response, “Much appreciated.”
Khanna’s decision to join DOGE follows his recent post on X, where he highlighted his past efforts to reduce wasteful expenditures. “I’m ready to work with @doge, @elonmusk + @VivekGRamaswamy to slash waste. I have a track record of doing so. I led the charge to get TransDigm to refund $16 million after investigative reporting exposed price-gouging. Let’s look to the Truman Committee and ensure Americans get their money’s worth with DOD spending,” Khanna wrote.
Bipartisan Appeal of DOGE
Khanna is not the first Democrat to align with DOGE. Rep. Jared Moskowitz of Florida has shown similar support, and even independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders commented positively on X, stating, “Elon Musk is right.” The initiative’s appeal across party lines reflects its broad aim to address inefficiencies in government operations.
The announcement sparked diverse reactions online. One user on X remarked, “Glad to see you have Ro Khanna onboard. Need just a couple more to counterbalance Maine and Alaska.” However, another user criticized Khanna’s move, stating, “It’s like none of these people who are Justice Democrats are actually progressives—they are MAGA populists cosplaying as progressives.”
With Musk, Ramaswamy, and Khanna soon heading to Capitol Hill to discuss reducing unnecessary government expenditures, DOGE is shaping into a coalition of diverse perspectives united by a shared goal of enhancing fiscal efficiency.
