Arshad Nadeem made history as the first Pakistani athlete to win an individual Olympic gold medal. With a jaw-dropping throw of 92.97m, he shattered the Olympic record and secured the top spot in the men’s javelin event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. His incredible performance left everyone in awe and edged out India’s Neeraj Chopra, who took silver with a season-best throw of 89.45m.
Following his Olympic victory, Nadeem has been making the rounds in media interviews, with one particular moment going viral on social media. When a reporter asked him about his next steps, Nadeem humorously replied, “Maal ikatha karna hain” (Need to collect things).
He later clarified that by “maal,” he meant money, expressing his desire to take his parents, children, and wife on a Hajj pilgrimage. “We’ll see when that happens,” he added.
While Pakistan is celebrating its Olympic hero with cash awards and other valuable prizes, Nadeem’s father-in-law has chosen a more traditional gift—a buffalo, which holds significant value and honor in their village.
“Nadeem is deeply connected to his roots, and despite his success, he still lives in his village with his parents and brothers,” shared his father-in-law, Muhammad Nawaz. He added that his youngest daughter, Ayesha, is married to Nadeem, and the family takes great pride in his achievements.
