The Sarang helicopter display team is prepared for the Singapore Airshow 2024.

The Sarang helicopter display team of the Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted its inaugural practice display in Singapore on Sunday, in preparation for their final showcase during the upcoming Singapore Airshow scheduled to kick off on Tuesday.

Arriving in Singapore on February 12, 2024, the Sarang team is stationed at the Changi Airbase of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF). The biennial Singapore Air Show is set to commence on February 20, 2024, and will run until February 24, 2024.

The airshow will feature a diverse array of display teams from around the world, with leading aircraft and system manufacturers and operators presenting their products.

Notably, the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)-manufactured Advanced Light Helicopter (Dhruv), operated by the Sarang team, is making its debut appearance at the show.

Interestingly, the Sarang team’s first international display also took place in Singapore at the Asian Aerospace Airshow at Changi Exhibition Center in 2004. This year, the Sarang team will perform a captivating four-helicopter display at the Singapore Airshow.

The display is specifically designed to showcase the agility and maneuverability of the ALH Dhruv, highlighting the exceptional skills of the IAF pilots operating these helicopters.

The ALH Dhruv and its advanced variants, all indigenously manufactured by HAL, are utilized by all branches of the Indian military. The successful integration and operational use of this platform stand as a remarkable testament to self-reliance (Aatmanirbharta) in the defense sector.

The Sarang Helicopter Display Team made it’s debut at the Asian Aerospace Show in 2004. Initially formed as a three-helicopter formation, the Sarang team now impressively performs a dynamic five-helicopter display and has participated in over 1200 displays at more than 385 venues worldwide.
