UK to Criminalize Creation of Sexually Explicit Deepfake Images to Combat Violence Against Women

In a significant move to address violence against women, the United Kingdom (UK) is set to criminalize the creation of sexually explicit deepfake images. Under the proposed plans, individuals found guilty of producing such deepfakes without consent, even if they do not intend to share the images, will face prosecution and could be subjected to an unlimited fine, as announced by the Ministry of Justice.
