US Election 2024: Joe Biden Expresses Uncertainty Over Peaceful Election, Says “I Don’t…”

During an unplanned appearance at the White House press briefing, President Joe Biden expressed confidence that the upcoming November election would be “free and fair” but raised concerns about the possibility of unrest, stating he wasn’t sure if it would be “peaceful.”

While responding to a reporter’s question regarding the integrity and potential peacefulness of the election, Joe Biden said “I’m confident it will be free and fair.”, however he also said “I don’t know whether it will be peaceful.”

President Biden Voices Concern Over Trump’s Rhetoric

Later, Biden voiced concern over former President Donald Trump’s past rhetoric surrounding election results, calling it “very dangerous” and highlighting Trump’s refusal to accept the outcome of the 2020 election.

Referencing the recent vice presidential debate, Biden pointed out that Trump’s running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, avoided answering a direct question about whether Trump lost the 2020 election.

When asked by Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, if Trump had lost, Vance responded, “Tim, I’m focused on the future,” leading Walz to call his response “a damning non-answer.”

Remarking on the exchange, he said “I noticed the Republican vice presidential candidate did not say he’d accept the outcome of the election. They haven’t even accepted the outcome of the last election.”

Meanwhile on wednesday,  federal prosecutors recently filed a brief in Trump’s election interference case, accusing him of attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

However, During the vice presidential debate, JD Vance denied former President Donald Trump’s actions on January 6, asserting that Trump had called on supporters to “peacefully” protest that day. He further claimed that Trump’s departure from the White House on January 20 served as evidence of a peaceful transition of power.

Additionally, Trump has consistently minimized his involvement in the January 6 riot and the ensuing violence, stating during a debate with Biden in June that he was merely “asked” to “make a speech.”
