In a recent update from the White House, President Joe Biden has tested negative for COVID-19, reassuring the nation of his health in the wake of the First Lady’s positive diagnosis. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre provided this information during a press briefing.
The First Lady, Jill Biden, tested positive for COVID-19 the previous night and is currently experiencing mild symptoms. She will be staying in Delaware for the upcoming week, ensuring her well-being. In contrast, President Biden, who has tested negative for COVID-19 on consecutive occasions, remains asymptomatic. As a precautionary measure, he will wear a mask while indoors and in close proximity to others, adhering to CDC guidelines. However, he will remove his mask when maintaining a safe distance from individuals, whether indoors or outdoors.
This development came just days ahead of President Biden’s scheduled visit to India for the G20 Summit, slated for September 9 and 10. Jake Sullivan, the National Security Advisor, confirmed President Biden’s participation in the summit and additional meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The President will embark on his trip to New Delhi on Thursday, where he will participate in the G20 Summit’s official sessions on Saturday. On September 8, a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Modi is on the agenda.
President Biden expressed his anticipation for the upcoming visits to India and Vietnam when asked by a reporter. During the G20 Summit in New Delhi, he will commend Prime Minister Modi for his leadership in the G20, reaffirming the United States’ commitment to this premier global forum for economic cooperation.
In a recent announcement, the White House press secretary emphasized President Biden’s focus on various global issues, including the social repercussions of Russia’s conflict in Ukraine, during his participation in the G20 Summit.
Following the summit in New Delhi, President Biden will travel to Hanoi, Vietnam, on September 10, further underlining the United States’ commitment to engaging with international partners and addressing critical global challenges.
