Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, joyfully announced the arrival of his baby boy on February 23 through a heartfelt post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Altman, who is married to Australian software engineer Oliver Mulherin, revealed that their baby was born prematurely and is currently under medical care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Despite the early arrival, Altman shared that the newborn is doing well.

Open AI CEO Welcomes Premature Baby Boy
In his post, Altman, 39, expressed his joy, writing, “Welcome to the world, little guy!” He also shared an emotional photo of the baby’s tiny hand holding an adult’s finger, adding, “He came early and is going to be in the NICU for a while. He is doing well and it’s really nice to be in a little bubble taking care of him.”
Altman concluded his post by saying, “I have never felt such love.”
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was among the first to congratulate Altman, commenting, “My heartfelt congratulations, Sam! Parenthood is one of life’s most profound and rewarding experiences. Wishing you and your family the very best.” Thousands of other well-wishers joined in to celebrate the joyous occasion.
